Mission:To act as a support group for aspiring as well as published authors.
Our goal is to encourage, inspire and motivate individuals to write about themselves, their community and heritage and subjects that stimulate a desire to write. It is also our mission to increase the number and visibility of Black published authors in the local, national and global arena by sharing information on publishing, establishing copyrights and editing and marketing services.
History:

The Writers Guild was established in April of 2002, when Ted Hollins encouraged a group of friends who were lovers of the written word and had a desire to put pen to paper to come together and share their work and discuss their desire to become published authors. From these gatherings they began to share their writings with each other and then friends began to tell other friends and acquaintances with similar interests. Thus the group which is now called the Orlando Renaissance Writers Guild Inc. was formed. The first meetings were held in the M&H Photography Studio and then moved to the Montsho Bookstore. Currently the meetings are held at the Orlando Public Library, 101 East Central Blvd. in Orlando, Florida.
About Us:
In the past 8 years, many have been inspired to complete their work because of their association with the Guild. There is also a strong camaraderie amongst individuals who are working to bring their projects to fruition. Some of our members are published by large companies while others are self published and many others are working to become published.
Our membership is open to individuals from all walks of life regardless or formal education. We want our members to know that there is power in the Written word and it can bring one from hopeless despair to pride and accomplishment. We Share information on publishing, establishing copyrights, editing and marketing services.
Many come to the meetings just to hear the writers read their work. We are a non-profit organization working toward achieving 501(c)(3) status. Our meeting are free and open to the public and our newsletter goes out to individuals across the country. Attendees at our monthly meetings represent a diverse group, ranging from high school students to senior citizens.
